The OSFA Youth Programs Committee was formed in 2004 to help attract young people to the fire service and to support existing fire service related youth programs. Many fire departments in Ohio have Explorer Posts, Cadet Programs, Jr. Firefighters and similar youth programs. Unfortunately, there was very little statewide coordination between these various programs. The Ohio State Firefighters' Association created the Youth Programs Committee in an effort to fill this gap. The Youth Programs Committee has published this web site in order to help establish new fire service youth programs and strengthen existing ones.
The Youth Programs Committee meets at 13:00 on the fourth Sunday of each month (except holidays). Some meetings are conducted in person, while others are conducted via conference call. These meetings are pretty informal and Advisors, Chiefs, and others who work with Fire Service Youth Programs in Ohio are welcome to attend and participate in the meetings.
